Upcoming Workshops

Aerial Dance Flow – ages 12-16 A dynamic aerial class where participants will build strength, flexibility and fluidity whilst gaining confidence in the hammock, learning aerial tricks and inversions before flowing them together into an aerial dance routine to music. Ideally participants will have some previous dance or gymnastics experience.
.
Dynamic Aerial Yoga – adults A dynamic aerial class where participants will build strength, flexibility and balance whilst gaining confidence in the hammock, learning a variety of yoga poses and decompressing the spine. No previous experience necessary.
.
Restorative Aerial Yoga – adults A gentle aerial class where the hammocks are set just off the ground so participants can benefit from the relaxing sway of the hammock whilst still being able to ground the body when needed. We will flow through some slow movements both in the hammock and on the ground using the hammock as support for various body parts to allow full body relaxation. No previous experience necessary.
.
The venue is Dance Pointe, 5, Swinegate, Grantham NG31 6RJ. There is parking nearby at Watergate car park and the entrance is on Swinegate, opposite St. Wulfram’s church, through white double doors. Please arrive 5 minutes before the start time and wear comfortable clothing you can fully relax in, without zips or buttons (so as not to snag the silk hammock).
Previous Workshops

An hour of deep relaxation brought to you in collaboration with Liz from Realize Yoga and Sound. This is less of a workshop and more of a ‘restshop’ where you get to experience the gentle swaying movement and fully cocooning support of the aerial yoga hammock whilst listening to the sounds of gongs, Himalayan bowls, crystal bowls, and various percussion instruments to ease you into a deeply relaxed state. A perfect winter Sunday afternoon activity to reduce stress, relieve tension and restore harmony in the body and mind.

A 2 hour workshop introducing you to the concepts of acroyoga, that combines yoga poses with L-based partner acrobatics (where the base is lying on their back and the flyer is held above the ground). The poses help both the base and flyer to stretch and release the spine, to have better communication and build a sense of compassion for each other.
We will warm up with exercises preparing our strength and mobility needed for acroyoga as well as building trust between partnerships before learning some of the basic acroyoga poses and how to spot/assist them and then potentially building a short sequence to flow through by the end of the workshop. There will of course be a mid-session break for tea and sweet treats to replenish our energy levels and time at the end for some partner massage and relaxation.
You do not need to book on as a partnership – but feel free to bring along your partner, family member or friend.

A 2 hour workshop to work towards or delve deeper into poses such as headstand, handstand, forearm stand, crow and side crow that we usually only briefly touch upon in regular yoga classes. We worked on core and upper body strength as well as the fundamentals of balance and alignment in order to play with different variations and techniques to come in and out of these poses. There were vinyasa flows and animal locomotion exercises to prepare the body and get back to a sense of playfulness we probably had when we attempted these poses as children. We explored training drills against the wall and with a partner to give us the confidence to get upside down. There was, of course, a well-earned tea and cake break to keep our energy levels up.
